Shopify Product Page Audit Checklist

A 25-point structured checklist for auditing any Shopify product page - covering hierarchy, copy, trust signals, AOV logic, and mobile experience.

How to use this checklist

Work through each section on your highest-traffic product page. Score each item: ✓ (done), ✗ (missing), or ~ (partial). Any ✗ is a potential CVR opportunity.

Section 1 - Above the fold (mobile)

  • Main product benefit is visible without scrolling on mobile
  • Product name appears - but benefit or outcome leads
  • At least one trust signal visible above the fold (reviews, rating, or social proof)
  • Price is visible without scrolling
  • Add-to-cart button is visible without scrolling

Section 2 - Value proposition

  • Headline addresses outcome, not just product name
  • Subheadline or bullet points answer "why this one?"
  • Copy uses customer language (check your reviews for exact phrasing)
  • Key objections are addressed in or near the PDP (shipping, returns, quality)

Section 3 - Social proof

  • Star rating + review count visible adjacent to price
  • At least 3 reviews displayed on the PDP (not just a "read reviews" link)
  • Reviews reference specific outcomes, not just "great product"
  • Photo reviews present (where applicable)

Section 4 - Trust signals

  • Free returns policy stated near the CTA
  • Shipping timeframe stated clearly (not just "fast shipping")
  • Security / payment trust signals present
  • Guarantee or warranty visible if applicable

Section 5 - Add-to-cart logic

  • Primary CTA button is the most visually dominant element in its area
  • No competing CTAs at the same visual weight (e.g., "save to wishlist" shouldn't compete)
  • Sticky add-to-cart on mobile (for long PDPs)
  • Variant selector (size, colour) doesn't add friction or hide the CTA

Section 6 - AOV logic

  • Cross-sell or "frequently bought together" present above the fold on mobile
  • Bundle or volume incentive present (where catalogue supports it)
  • Cross-sell recommendation is genuinely complementary (not just "popular products")

Section 7 - Mobile experience

  • All images are viewable via swipe (not tap-to-expand only)
  • No horizontal scroll on any element
  • Tap targets (buttons, links) are at least 44px

Scoring guide

  • 0–5 ✗ - Strong foundation. Focus on AOV and copy refinement.
  • 6–12 ✗ - Meaningful CVR opportunity. Prioritise above-fold and trust signal fixes first.
  • 13+ ✗ - Structural issues. Start with a full Revenue Scan before implementing fixes.
